How we score

The editorial take

Harlan Records approaches cocktails like cover versions: the source form should remain audible, but the arrangement has to justify itself. Toke My Banana loosens a Japanese whisky highball with banana and ginger liqueurs, giving an easy tall drink an offbeat low register. O.D.B. is the sharper piece of editing, turning the dirty-vodka format savory and oxidative with olive-oil-infused Tito’s, olive brine, and Mas Peyre Ranci Sec. Mai Tea removes rum from the expected tiki frame and rebuilds it with pandan, coconut, falernum, orgeat, citrus, egg white, and soda. Not every title escapes gimmickry, and the official poster frustratingly makes only one $15 price legible, but the list has real range: bitter agave drinks, an apricot-and-Fernet rye composition, a cream-soda highball, and a nonalcoholic dealer’s choice all share the bill. The record-room concept therefore works best as an editing principle rather than décor. Come early enough to hear the drink’s details; later vinyl selectors make more sense after the first round has established the bar’s own rhythm.

What should I order?
Start with O.D.B. to test the bar's savory precision through olive oil, brine, and rancio wine. Follow with Toke My Banana for the more playful highball arrangement, or Mai Tea when pandan, coconut, and bright citrus sound better than whisky.
Who will enjoy this place?
Cocktail drinkers who like recognizable forms with one decisive alteration, especially highballs, savory martini relatives, and tropical structures that do not follow the standard rum script.
When should I go?
Use the 2 p.m. weekday opening for a quieter read of the list. Later hours suit the vinyl-selector calendar, but the room's music premise is easiest to appreciate once the first drink has your full attention.
What should I expect to spend?
The official cocktail poster makes one $15 price visible but does not provide dependable item-by-item pricing; confirm the price of your selection before ordering.
What makes the beverage program distinctive?
Its best cocktails translate the listening-bar idea into actual recipe decisions: familiar forms are rearranged with banana, ginger, rancio wine, pandan, and other modifiers without losing the original beat.

Cocktails

Inebrious Cocktails score: 92 out of 100

A wide-ranging list treats classics as musical source material, with its most convincing results coming from sharply chosen savory, tropical, and highball substitutions.

Menu strengths

  • Savory construction with olive-oil-infused vodka and oxidative Ranci Sec
  • Japanese whisky highball vocabulary made playful with banana and ginger
  • Tropical architecture broadened through pandan, coconut, falernum, and orgeat without relying on rum

Standout selections

  • O.D.B. — olive-oil-infused vodka, olive brine, and Mas Peyre Ranci Sec
  • Toke My Banana — Toki Japanese whisky, seltzer, creme de banane, and ginger liqueur
  • Mai Tea — pandan and coconut liqueurs, falernum, orgeat, citrus, egg white, and soda

Pricing: One cocktail is visibly marked $15; complete current item pricing is not legible on the official poster
