How we score

The editorial take

Kon Tiki is a mid-century tiki survivor with a cocktail menu that leans into classic rum-heavy constructions. The September 2024 update refreshed a years-old list, adding new drinks while keeping Zombie, Mai Tai, and Three Dots & A Dash. It’s a place for authentic tiki flavors and strong pours, with non-alcoholic options that don’t feel like afterthoughts.

What should I order?
Start with the Zombie, a Hamilton rum blend with apricot, lime, grapefruit, and pineapple. For a drier classic, the Last Rites pairs Martinique rum with passionfruit and falernum. If you want something lighter, the Trader Sam's Sipper Skipper delivers agave, mint, lime, and pineapple without alcohol.
Who will enjoy this place?
Tiki purists will appreciate the classic constructions and the rum-heavy approach. Fans of mid-century bar culture will like the nod to the original 1963 menu in the illustrations. The non-alcoholic list also gives designated drivers something beyond soda.
What makes the beverage program distinctive?
Kon Tiki is one of the last operational tiki restaurants from America's mid-century tiki era. The cocktail menu was updated in September 2024 for the first time in years, with illustrations nodding to the original 1963 menu. It’s a living piece of tiki history with a refreshed drink list.
