How we score

The editorial take

Lamplighter's Broadway taproom pours beer in the building where it is produced, and the current 11 taps make the brewery's priorities plain. Six hazy or double IPAs occupy more than half the board. Birds of a Feather is the useful baseline: a 6.8% double-dry-hopped New England IPA built around spruce, lemongrass, Meyer lemon, passionfruit and dank citrus. Little Bird drops the strength to 5%, while Rabbit Rabbit and Two Birds climb to 8.5%; Tropic of Cambridge adds pineapple at 8%. Hop drinkers can compare scale and intensity without leaving the family resemblance. The counterargument arrives in the other taps. Lamp Pils uses Saaz hops and a clean 5.3% Czech-pilsner frame; Finnegan's Wake brings bitter chocolate and roasted coffee through a 5% nitro Irish stout; Deja Vu and Souvenir cover witbier and hefeweizen. Those beers keep the board functional with pizza and arancini and prevent total palate saturation. Still, the current list has no sour or barrel-aged beer despite those being part of Lamplighter's stated identity, and online draft prices and pour sizes are absent. Broadway is an accomplished brewery taproom with convincing stylistic control, but on this rotation its range narrows noticeably around hazy hops.

What should I order?
Use Birds of a Feather as the flagship reference, then compare it with 5% Little Bird or an 8.5% double IPA rather than stacking all three. Lamp Pils is the clean reset and the best first beer with pizza. Finish with Finnegan's Wake if the nitro line is pouring properly.
Who will enjoy this place?
New England IPA drinkers who want several intensity levels, brewery visitors interested in drinking beside the production facility, and mixed groups that need a pilsner, wheat beer or dry stout alongside the hop-heavy core.
When should I go?
Visit after 5 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday when Controne is serving pizza and arancini. Book the monthly tour for production context and guided samples; arrive early otherwise because Broadway is first come, first served with limited seating.
What should I expect to spend?
Current draft prices and pour sizes are not published. The online beer-store prices shown beside some products refer to packaged beer rather than verified taproom pours, so they should not be used to estimate a round.
What makes the beverage program distinctive?
Broadway puts Lamplighter's full production facility behind a tap board where six related IPAs can be compared against sharply different reference styles: Czech pilsner, witbier, hefeweizen and nitro Irish stout.

We only score what a venue sets out to do. Categories a venue doesn't attempt are left unscored rather than penalized.

Beer

Inebrious Beer score: 88 out of 100

An onsite production taproom demonstrates technical control across hazy IPA, Czech pilsner, wheat beer and nitro stout. The present list is fresh and specific but unusually concentrated in hazy and double IPA, with no current sour or barrel-aged counterpoint.

Menu strengths

  • Multiple IPA strengths allow useful side-by-side comparison
  • Saaz-hopped pilsner and nitro dry stout provide credible stylistic contrast
  • Monthly brewery tours connect draft tasting directly to production

Standout selections

  • Birds of a Feather — 6.8% double-dry-hopped hazy IPA with spruce, lemongrass and Meyer lemon
  • Lamp Pils — 5.3% Czech-style pilsner with Saaz hops
  • Finnegan's Wake — 5% Irish dry stout on nitro with bitter chocolate and roasted coffee

Pricing: Draft prices and serving sizes are not currently published; online packaged-beer prices do not establish taproom pricing.

How it sits with the food

Lamp Pils has the bitterness and carbonation for cheese, fried arancini and pizza crust without amplifying heat. Birds of a Feather works with brighter vegetable toppings, while the coffee-and-chocolate profile of Finnegan's Wake fits deeply browned crust, mushrooms or a richer finish.
