How we score

The editorial take

Place des Fêtes gives Spanish wine a beginning, middle, and finish. Colet Tradicional 2019 and Mas Candí Corpinnat Brut Nature 2023 establish two Penedès sparkling routes at $18 and $20. Les Salicaires Primal Orange, poured from tap at $16, broadens the Mediterranean frame, while Tentenublo Xérico 2020 brings Tempranillo and Viura from Rioja Alavesa for $17. The decisive move comes after the table's still wine: M. Ant. de la Riva Macharnudo and PM Spirits fino treat Jerez as a destination rather than a footnote. More than 80 bottles, proper storage and glassware, and knowledgeable staff provide credible depth without creating an encyclopedia. The sustainable seafood-and-vegetable kitchen completes the argument. Oysters, simply handled fish, grilled toast, and seasonal produce make acidity, flor, oxidation, and salinity materially legible. France remains important, but the Spanish spine is why the room matters. Markups are fair for the category rather than cheap, and small plates accumulate quickly. Start sparkling, choose one still glass around the food, then finish dry and fortified. Place des Fêtes is strongest when dinner becomes a coastal wine progression.

What should I order?
Open with Mas Candí Corpinnat Brut Nature, compare Les Salicaires Primal Orange with a seafood or vegetable plate, then move to Tentenublo Xérico if the table wants red. Finish with PM Spirits fino or Macharnudo; the Jerez close is the program's most distinctive sequence.
Who will enjoy this place?
Spanish-wine drinkers, natural-wine explorers, and diners who believe the kitchen should shape the bottle will find unusual coherence. Beginners benefit from the compact glass list and staff. Trophy collectors and guests seeking broad New World coverage are not the priority.
When should I go?
Arrive at opening for bar conversation; the compact room fills and grows energetic quickly. A weekday dinner better supports multi-glass progression, while groups should use the family-style tasting and optional cellar pairing rather than improvising many small plates.
What should I expect to spend?
Current glasses run about $15-$25, with sparkling at $18-$20 and fortified pours at $20-$25. Bottles and accumulating small plates can raise the total; set a bottle ceiling and decide in advance whether Jerez will replace dessert.
What makes the beverage program distinctive?
A disciplined France-and-Spain natural list becomes exceptional through its Spanish arc and seafood-forward kitchen. Corpinnat, Rioja, and serious Jerez can occupy one meal without feeling like a themed tasting exercise.

Beverage categories

We only score what a venue sets out to do. Categories a venue doesn't attempt are left unscored rather than penalized.

Wine

Inebrious Wine score: 93 out of 100

Focused French and Spanish natural-wine depth, strong service, correct handling, and unusually exact seafood pairings outweigh the list's moderate scale and cumulative dinner cost.

Menu strengths

  • Complete Spanish progression from sparkling through Rioja and Jerez
  • More than 80 grower- and natural-focused bottles with strong glass access
  • Seafood and vegetable cooking built to clarify acidity, salinity, and oxidation

Standout selections

  • Mas Candí Corpinnat Brut Nature 2023
  • Tentenublo Xérico 2020
  • M. Ant. de la Riva Macharnudo

Pricing: Current glasses are roughly $15-$25; independent review judges bottle markup fair for a Brooklyn wine bar.

How it sits with the food

Oysters and raw seafood favor Corpinnat or fino; oily fish can take Primal Orange, while grilled bread and vegetables bridge textured whites and light reds. Macharnudo belongs with the most savory plate or as a dry finish after dinner.
