The editorial take

Widowmaker Brewing is still most legible through hops, but its current work makes that identity less one-note than the headline suggests. Blue Comet remains the center: a 7.1% hazy IPA with Simcoe and Comet, tropical aroma and a soft, biscuity malt frame. The 2026 record then changes the variables. Lil' Comet lowers the hazy format to 4.5%, Chains of Time sits at 6.8%, and Dead Nebula reaches 8%. Green Wizard moves into clear American IPA, using Massachusetts-grown Centennial and Cascade for grapefruit-pith bitterness rather than another soft tropical finish. The stronger argument is what happens outside IPA. Logic Gate is a 4.7% helles; Deadly Gardens is a 5.1% Czech dark lager built around floor-malted pilsner and specialty malts; Cryptcreeper is a 5.2% English dark mild; Scimitar is a 5.6% porter; and Secret Sesh is a 4.9% cream ale. Blender Ender pushes in the opposite direction with pineapple, mango, key lime and sea salt at 7%. That range earns serious credit because it changes yeast, color, strength and texture, not merely hop combinations. The caveat is practical: the brewery does not publish a dependable Braintree tap list, pour sizes or taproom prices in the sources reviewed. Widowmaker therefore scores as an excellent, hop-led brewery with real stylistic depth, not as a fully transparent taproom program.

Start with Blue Comet to establish the house's soft hazy baseline, then compare Green Wizard for clear, bitter American IPA structure. If available, make Deadly Gardens or Logic Gate the lager reset; Cryptcreeper is the most revealing low-gravity dark-beer choice.
